Orana Park Trip

 On Monday 16th of August, room 5 and 6 went to Orana Wildlife Park to learn about biodiversity. While we were there we went to zoo school, it wasn't much because we didn't really stay in that area but we did have fun. During the trip we saw lots of animals. First we saw the frog house. In the frog house there was frogs, (Of course), fish and my personal favourite, the axolotl. Next we went to the tigers, there was 2 of them, I have forgotten their names. There were 4 lions, 2 males and 2 females. Next we saw the reptile house, there was barley anything they were all in hibernation. Next we saw the kiwi, his name was Sonic. After the Kiwi we went to the farmyard. Next we saw the Tasmanian devils. There was 4 of them but we only saw 2 because the others were hiding. Next we had lunch and after that we went to see the gorillas. There were 2 of them. We also saw Simian gibbon and Lemurs. Next we saw the cheetahs, after that we saw the water buck, the water buffalo and the rhinos. Next we saw the Giraffes and we got to feed them. Next we saw the otters and the Meerkats. After that we home. Its a shame that some of the animals weren't on display but we still had fun.

Different parts of a Plant

There are 6 different parts of a plant. The roots, the stem, the leaves, the fruit and the seeds. Today I will explain these different parts of a plant. I will use a slide show.

Dragon Writing

 This term we learnt about different sentence types. We learnt about 6 sentence types. These are called Alan Peat sentence types. With these we also learnt about dragons and how to describe them. The 6 sentence types are called 2A, two adjectives before a noun, DE:DE, description and detail, Noun W, an example of a sentence with an embedded clause, Some; Others, this one explains itself, Position + Place; Subject + Action, allows you to link the creature with its habitat, Are All Examples Of, allows you to use dashes to explain the creatures diet.

So with this we got to make our own dragons and write about them. Here is mine,

Easter Triduum

 Within the following weeks before Easter we have been learning about the Easter Triduum. The Easter Triduum is the important events leading up to Easter Sunday. I will explain the Easter Triduum from the day it starts.

Palm Sunday: This is the day where the Easter Triduum begins. On this day, Holy Week begins. Jesus has finished walking through the desert. It has been 40 days since He started walking. He rides into Jerusalem on a donkey as the people of Jerusalem place palms and clothing on the ground for Jesus saying, "Hosanna."

Holy Thursday: This is the day that the Last Supper happens. At the Last Supper Jesus says to his disciples, "One of you will betray me tonight. So this bread is my body, and this wine is my blood. Eat and drink this to remember me. But first, whoever I give the bread to is the one who has betrayed me." Next Jesus passes the bread to Judas. Judas gets mad and walks out. Jesus then breaks the bread and passes it round the table. Later that same night Jesus heads to a garden with his disciples. Jesus sits down and prays for a few hours. A few hours later Judas arrives with some soldiers to arrest Jesus. That's what they do.

Good Friday: Today Jesus gets trialled. At first the Judges don't want to kill him, but eventually they do. Now, the stations of the cross begin. First Jesus gets striped of his clothing and a crown of thorns is placed on his head. Next he is given his cross and has to walk up a hill carrying it on his back. Jesus falls over but is forced to get back up. He keeps walking. His mother Mary comes up to wipe the blood of his face. He keeps walking. He falls over again. Some one named Simon is forced to help Jesus. He does. Later Jesus is given the Cross again. He keeps walking. He falls over a third time. He is force to get back up. When he reaches the top of the hill, he is nailed to the cross. After a few hours, Jesus dies. He is taken down from the cross and placed in a tomb.

Easter Sunday: Jesus rises from the dead to meet with his disciples. He tells them that the Holy Spirit will come and that the sins of the world will always be healed.

After we researched the Easter Triduum we got to make 2 pictures. After they were made we had to cut them into strips and glue them down to a large piece of paper. We had to glue 1 strip of paper at a time. The first strip was one picture, the second strip was from the other picture.

All About Me 2021

 Today in class we got to make an all about me. As in everyone makes they're own one not one about me. So we had to include our interest's, we had to introduce ourself's, a funniest memory and a goal for the year.

The Golden Rule

In RE we made DLO's based on the bible verse Luke chapter 6 verse 31. Do to others as you would have them do to you. This is an important verse that we should all follow through on. This means that if you steal from someone, expect them to steal from you.

Something I found difficult was understanding the verse.

Something I enjoyed was making the DLO.

We are learning about pirates. The golden age of pirates was an age to remember. Blackbeard, Henry Morgan and other pirates pirated around the Caribbean. They have changed locations because they don't wanna get caught.

In reading, we learnt about Pleiades. These are a cluster of stars. They are called different names throughout the world. Like in Greece, they are called the seven sisters. In New Zealand this is called the seven stars of Matariki

Jesus gets baptised

In R.E we are learning about the baptism of Jesus. Jesus is the savour of the world. He was crucified because of what he did.

So we had to make a news report about the baptism of Jesus. Something I found difficult was making the report. Something I enjoyed was watching some videos.
