Heather the Weather Girl

In reading this week I got a fiction text. It's called Heather the Weather Girl. It's about a girl, who was struck by lightning. Now she can tell the weather so she got on the news. She also has a nosy friend.

I had to chose one of the synthesis task's, one was to create something that could protect you from being struck by lightning. I forgot the other one. I created something that could protect you from lightning.

What I found difficult was thinking of something to protect you.

What I enjoyed was finishing it.

The True Story of Hansel and Gretel

On Friday 22 of November Room's 4, 5 and 6 went to a ballet. It was Hansel and Gretel. It was only the second half because we went after morning tea and the whole thing would be 2 hours. The performance started around about 12 pm and finished at around about 1.30.

Something I enjoy at the ballet was all the FAKE food. It made me so hungry.
Something I didn't like about the ballet was that we didn't get to see the whole performance.
We only saw the second half because it wouldn't be as long and it was only about 1 hour.
Last year we went to the Nutcracker. It was fun. At first I didn't want to go to the Hansel and Gretel ballet, but I had to go to the ballet, so I did. It ended up being fun. I didn't want to go because I've heard the story over 100 times.
Something else I didn't like was that someone was kicking my set.

On Tuesday the 26 of November we wrote some narrative writing. We had to rewrite the story of Hansel and Gretel.

Something I found difficult was writing the first half because we didn't get to see the first half.

Something I found easy was how it ended.

Hansel and Gretel lived with their Mum and Dad in the big city. They lived in an apartment. They didn’t have much food either. They were starving.
 Hansel said, “I could eat a whole horse.” The Mum said, “No, we will not eat any horse’s in this house, the end.”
 One night while Hansel and Gretel were sleeping, a Witch came through the window. Her name was Night Which. That’s right, she kidnaps kids at night. Her last name really is Witch.

So she kidnapped Hansel and Gretel. In the morning their Dad heard a scream. So he went into Hansel and Gretel’s room.
 The only person there was the Mum. “Hansel and Gretel have been kidnapped.” She said. Meanwhile at Night Witch’s house, Hansel and Gretel woke up.
 “Where are we Hansel.” Said Gretel. “I don’t even know.” Said Hansel. Night Witch came in with some candy. “Have some Candy Dear’s.” Night Witch said.

 Hansel and Gretel ate the candy. Now Night Witch brought in some KFC. Hansel ate it all. Night Witch brought in some Burger King. Gretel ate that. Finally, Night Witch brought in some Mcdonalds. Hansel and Gretel ate it.
 Hansel and Gretel passed out and Night Witch put them in the basement. Hansel was put in a cage and Gretel was just put on the floor. It would’ve been a better idea to put Gretel in the cage too.
 Night Witch said, “I can’t wait to eat some KFH.” KFH means, Kentucky Fried Hansel. She left the room with the key to the cage left on a table in the basement. Hansel and Gretel woke up from their deep sleep.
 “Hansel, your in a cage.” Said Gretel. “Gretel, there’s a key on the table, try to open the cage with that.” Said Hansel. So Gretel used the key to open the cage. It worked.

Hansel jumped out of the cage landing on the ground as the ground shook. Night Witch came in. She ran to push fat Hansel (Because Hansel became fat) into the open oven.
 Hansel moved out of the way as Night Witch said, “Get in that oven you fat buffoon.” Night Witch wasn’t looking where she was going, so she ran straight into the oven. Gretel shut the door to the oven and locked it. Night Witch’s operation: KFH had failed.

Night Witch died as the police came in. “Night Witch you're under arrest for the kidnaping of Hansel and Gretel and tons of other kids.” Said the Police. Night Witch had enough time to say, “I knew I smelled bacon, because the pigs are here.”
 The Police saw that Night Witch died right when Hansel and Gretel’s Mum and Dad came in. “Hansel and Gretel, you're under arrest for the murder of Night Witch.” Said the Cops. Hansel and Gretel realized that they did murder Night Witch.
 “Hansel you must be the reason for the ground to shake earlier, look how fat you are. Your staying in prison for longer.” Said the Cops.

Later at Hansel and Gretel’s trial, the judge said, “They did use self defence. Plus, Night Witch did kidnap and eat tons of kids. I believe Hansel and Gretel deserve a medal for that. On the other hand, Hansel needs to lose weight. 5 weeks of fat camp for you Hansel. But on the third hand for some reason, they’re innocent. Also Night Witch had a lot of money which Hansel and Gretel’s family will get.”
 So the story comes to an end. Hansel went to fat camp, and Hansel and Gretel’s family got all of Night Witches money.

Knocked Out

In writing we had to do some narrative writing. This was a perfect time for my creativeness. My story is called knocked out.

It's about me being knocked out in the middle of the forest and my friends try to find me.

Something I found hard was adding chapters. I didn't have to but I did.

Something I enjoyed was the whole thing.

Chapter 1

Where am I!

Where am I? Why am I in the forest on the ground? This is all strange.

Why does my head hurt? I’m hungry. I’ve just woken up in the middle of the forest?!?!?! I need to know what happened.

My name is Tyler. I am an 11 year old kid. My favourite movie is called Star Wars but we won’t talk about that now.

The last thing I remember was leaving my house all alone to take a walk in the forest. Now I’m lying on the ground while my head hurts.

What am I going to do? How am I going to get out of the forest? I need answers.

Chapter 2

About 1 month ago

About 1 month ago I won a race between the fastest runner in school. I became the most popular kid in school. I was getting rewards everyday.

Everyone was my friend. Someone even gave me a big present.

“Shut the back door!” I said as I opened the present.

A few days past and I was now losing friends. This is because the race got old. Now I was the most less popular kid in school.

It was fun while the popularity lasted.

A month later I was at home. I decided to go for a walk in the forest. So I told my parents and they let me go alone.

While I was walking through the forest, something bad happened. I tripped and my head hit a rock on the leavy floor. I was knocked out….

Chapter 3

Now

Now I have no idea of what happened. So I started walking. Now, I didn’t know how long it’s been. The leave’s scrunched as I walked over them. It was annoying.

I was hungry, hurt and thirsty. I had no idea of which way I came.

If you want to know how long it’s been, well, it’s been 14 days. 2 weeks!

At my house my parents were worried. All around town my friends were worried. My parents called the police.

“We’ll find your son.” The police said to my Mum through the phone. (I knew that my mum was talking to the police because I had to include in this fake story that my mum was talking to the police. Obviously someone would’ve called the police. How would they know I would missing.) 

They began they’re search as soon as possible.

The one that was worried about me the most was my friend, Dob.

Chapter 4

Dob

Dob was the same age as me. He was like me. He was unpopular and smart. He didn’t like Star Wars though.

He started searching for me. He searched the buildings, the rivers, even the sewers. But the one place he didn’t search was the forest.

Now, the forest had a name. It was called the dark forest….

Unfortunately that was the forest I went in. It was a terrifying forest. No one dared to go in. Except for me. Not even the police searched there.

Good thing I had my phone with me. I knew Dob what a phone, too. So I called him. He answered.

“Dob.” I said on the phone. “Tyler.” Dob replied. “Oh I am happy to hear you.” I said happy. 

“Now, have you been searching for me?” “Yes.” Dob said with a smile. 

“I’ve searched everywhere except the forest.” “Well I’m in the forest.” I said. Dob was surprised. No one dared to go in there….

Chapter 5

The Dark Forest Search Crew Part 1

“Dob, make some friends and find me. Call the team The Dark Forest Search Crew and find me.” I said to Dob. “Call it The DFSC for short.”

“Ok.” Said Dob. So the next day he went to school and got some friends. New friend’s because he didn’t have any.

The first person Dob went to was Bob. Bob and Dob rhymed. So they became friends. The next person was named Rob. Bob, Dob and Rob rhymed too. 2 more people were needed for The DFSC. (The Dark Forest Search Crew.)

So they found 2 people named Bop and Rop. They rhyme too.

So after school with the crew, Dob went to the Dark Forest. It was really dark. In fact that’s how the forest got its name.

“Bob, your code name will be Chicken Nugget.” Said Dob asking for laughter. “Rob, your code name will be French Fries. As in Mcdonald's french fries. Bop, your code name will be, Burger. Rop, your code name is Food.”

“Really Dob. Those are all food names. Especially my name.” Said Rob frustrated. They all entered the forest, scared.

Chapter 6

The Dark Forest

The DFSC all had walky talkys. Dob had a spare 1 for me.

I was still missing. I don’t know if they’ll find me. I continued walking. I heard a twitch crack. I looked around. I saw something in the bush.

“Whoever you are, come out.” I said. Dob came out from the bush.

“I told everyone to split up.” Dob said. “Really!” I said. “Scaring me like that. I told you to find me not scare me.”

“Chicken Nugget, French Fries, Burger and Food, I found him. Right in the middle of the clearing.” Said Dob. The DFSC came out of nowhere.

“AH!” I screamed. “Tyler, I’m so glad we found you.” Said Dob giving me a walky talky. “Your code name can be, Awesome.” “And your code name can be the Scare.” I said.

We started walking. “Do you know the way out.” I said to Dob. “Nope.” Said Dob. It was scary in the Dark Forest.

Chapter 7

It’s Alive

While we were walking, we decided to split up.

“The Scare, your with me. Chicken Nugget, your with French Fries. Burger, your with Food.” I said. So we all split up.

While Burger (Bop) and Food (Rop) walked around the forest. While walking the ran into a wall. It was big, and it had a face on it. It was sleeping.

Chicken Nugget (Bob) and French Fries (Rob) also ran into the sleeping thing. The 4 of them didn’t know what it was.

Me and Scare (Dob) ran into the tree monster too. It woke up because we were running. The DFSC got back together and ran.

This walking tree was faster than a cheetah. We were running for our lives. We saw some trees that looked high and climbable. So we climbed up.

“What are we going to do Awesome.” Said Dob. “I don’t know.” I said out of ideas. “I got a plan.” Said Bop. “We need to use the vine’s from these trees and use them to wrap up the tree monster, after that we run.”

“Great idea Bop.” Said Rop and Rob. So we gathered some vines.

Chapter 8

The Dark Forest Search Crew Part 2

We had all the vines ready with me as bait. The tree monster came out of nowhere running at me as I moved out of the way and got behind the monster.

I pushed the monster into the vine trap and it worked. After that, The Dark Forest Search Crew ran, leaving me behind. I followed. We saw, an exit….

Chapter 9

The DFSC Save the Day

During our escape from the forest, we stopped at a factory with molten lava in it. It also had a chimney that explodes every 5 minutes. BOOM.

The chimney exploded. We decided to go down and take a closer look. We looked through a window. The lava was right next to fuel cells. We thought that if the lava exploded near the fuel cells, this factory will blow up.

It was so hot. The lava near the fuel cells was about to explode. We all ran. There was no one in the factory. We ran as fast as a cheetah.

In the factory, the lava exploded and the fuel cells exploded too. Now there is a lot of fire. Firefighters arrived with trucks and helicopters.

The DFSC and I ran for our lives as we got surrounded by lava. But thankfully there was an opening that we got through. The fire was big. That’s when I got an idea.

I saw one of those water things on a hill. I followed by The DFSC, ran to the water tanker.

We got there. “Everybody, grab a big stick from the tree up here and hit the tanker.” I said bossing them around. The Dark Forest Search Crew hit the tanker legs with a branch causing the tanker to fall down the hill, putting out the fire.

Chapter 10

Tyler is Found

In the end the fire was put out thanks to the tanker falling. I was reunited with my family and we all lived happily ever after. The police called my parents that they found me. That’s how I knew my parents called them earlyer.

My parents and I were so happy that I got a new videogame.

The end.

Chapter 11

Alternate Ending 

So this story could have ended differently. So 1 extra chapter of what could have happened.

Finally, out of the forest. We ran out of the forest as I sto-

There was a big explosion. It came from a factory. A lava factory. The Dark Forest Search Crew and I went down to see.

There were fuel cells right next to the lava. While we were looking, we were caught. It was bad guys. Dob still had his phone with him. So I stomped on 1 of the bad guys foot. There were 4 bad guys.

They started chasing me. I told Dob to use his phone (Because he had his phone) to call the police.

So he did. “We’ll be there as soon as possible.” Said the police on the phone.

So the police arrived. They shut down the factory and took away the fuel cells. They took the bad guys to prison, (No need for court) and I was reunited with my parents.

In this ending, I probably won’t get a video game. Good thing this isn’t the ending that happened. 

In this ending I got a LEGO set instead.

Hearing Dog

WALT combine prior and new knowledge to come up with knew ideas.

In reading this week we got an article called Turbo Lends an Ear. It's about a family of 4 and 1 of the kids is hearing impaired, but he can still talk and hear over the phone and he has 1 sister. The sister and the parents are completely deaf.

So, have you heard of seeing eye dogs, well, there is also hearing dogs. So this family has 1 dog and his name is Turbo. He is a hearing dog. It takes 4-6 months and 9,000 dollars to train a hearing dog.

So my groups synthesis task was to make another animal that can help deaf people. I though of a parrot.

What would you do When Trapped in a Video Game?

On Wednesday we got to chose a story starter. I chose one where I'm trapped in a video game. The characters are my own creation. One of them is me.

This story is fun, it has levels and of course, a final boss. If you want to know what happens, you need to read the whole story. No chapters but it is very long.

The Video Game

Once I was just playing video games with my friend Bob. It was about 11 o-clock at night. We just got done with a game so we found a new game. The game was called Unlimited Imagination, (Not a real game. Do not try and buy it at the store). I put the game disc in PS4. The game started. I was player 1 so I pressed the start button.

After that, something strange happened. The game started glitching. A portal opened on the TV screen. Bob and I got sucked into the TV.
“AHHHHH!” I screamed as I got sucked in.

It was dark. Next thing I know it it was so bright. It was morning in the game. I looked up. I saw my health bar. I saw Bobs, too. In the air it said “Level 1.” This game had levels!

There was a note on the ground. I picked it up and read it out loud. “To complete the game, you must defeat the final boss.” I read. “To find the boss, you must find clues. The first clue is to go find the river, there you must find the first boss. Defeat him, get the next clue.”

All of a sudden I found a map. I picked it up. It was a map of the whole world. It showed where we are, and where we need to go.

Next Bob and I were attacked by some bad guys. We both started punching them. They dropped weapons. Now Bob and I have 1 pistol and 1 sword each.

With our swords we defeated the rest of our new enemies. We started our walk to the river.

On the way we found a car. We were on a hill not too far from the car. Bad guys were guarding it. We went down with our swords and attacked the enemies. They all got defeated. They’re bodies disappeared. Bob and I hopped in the car. I was in the driver's seat. No seatbelts….

“Wait a minute.” Said Bob. “This game is called Unlimited Imagination. We could imagine some seatbelts.” So that's what we did.

In no time we were at the river. We got out of the car. There was the first boss. “You’ll never win.” He said. “My name is Good. That doesn’t mean I’m a good guy.”

“You will be defeated.” I said. Next we got into a fight. I used my sword to attack. Good got his sword out and stabbed me. Looks like it’s the end for me. I died. All of a sudden I respawned.

“It’s one of those games where you respawn.” I said. I stabbed Good in the face. He just died. He didn’t respawn because he’s an enemy. His body disappeared and gave me the 2nd clue.

In the sky in said, “Level 2.” We were on level 2. I read the clue. “To find the next clue, you must go to Crab Cliff’s.” I read. “There you must defeat Gi-Crab. He is the next boss. On the way you will find a mini boss called, The Bug.” What does it mean?

We got on the boat that was shown on the map. I used my imagination to make the boat a speed boat. Bob and I made our way to Crab Cliff’s. Our boat was too fast. We crashed onto the side of the mountain. There we started climbing. Well, kinda. Bob imagined an elevator.

The elevator took us to a cave. It got dark. We slept in that cave that night. We imagined beds. All of a sudden there was a rock slide overnight. In the morning we made our way through the caves. Bob died and respawned all of sudden. It was The Bug. I used my sword and cut off a leg. It grew back. That giant bug can regenerate health. So I imagined I had a weapon to defeat The Bug quick. “Rocket launcher.” I said with a snap. I now have a ba-zooka.

“Stand back Bob.” I said shooting The Bug. It blew up. Bob and I ran out of the cave as it caved in. We encountered gi-crab. A giant crab. I used the ba-zooka again but it only took away half of it’s health. I fired again and this time it worked.

Gi-crab died giving me the next clue. “To find the next clue, go to where you started. The plains. Use the planes on this cliff to make your way to the river. Follow the river, find the plains.” I read out loud.

Bob and I spotted the planes it talked about on the clue. We hopped in them. Good thing there were 2. The planes took us to the river, where we found a speed boat. “The people who made this game just got lazy here.” I said as we hopped in the boat. It took us to where we defeated Good.

We found the same car. We hopped in. It took us to where we started but with a twist. There were double bosses. Ba-zooka again. They died instantly. We got the next clue. “Head to the train station. You will find 1 mini-boss, and a whole bunch of mini-games." 

So Bob and I sped to the train station. We were so fast that we got there in 30 seconds. It was abandoned. We found the mini-boss but we ran him over. We found the mini-game box. I opened it. Now we got teleported into a basketball game.

I had to get the ball in the hop for a game trophy. (Achievement.) I did exactly that. In the air in said level 4 because we completed levels 2 and 3. Next to the level 4 it gave my PS4 account an achievement.

We saw a train so we hopped on the roof. The train started moving. In the sky it said, “Final boss!” The final boss appeared. “Hello. My name is Evil.” He said. “I’m going to kill yo-” Before he could finish I attacked him. I use my sword and I kept stabbing him. I saw a bridge up ahead. It looked unstable.

I grabbed Bob and we both jumped off the train. We died. We respawned on the grass. The train Evil was on went on the unstable bridge. The bridge broke and Evil fell to his doom. He died. Bob and I started flying towards the sky. I woke up. It was all a dream.

We finished the game. Bob went home and I started playing the game again. This time it wasn’t glitching. I was lucky.

Descriptive writing promtps

In writing we had to make a copy of a slideshow. It had prompts on it and we had to use 4 sentence's for each one. I haven't finished yet but I will soon.

We had to use descriptive language for this. It was fun and I really enjoyed it. It was difficult to find descriptive words. One thing for descriptive writing that you could use is Alliteration.

Sniffer dog

This week my group got a non-fiction story. It is called Sniffer Dog. It's about a dog named Isaak and he is a beagle. Sniffer dogs work at the airport to see if anyone has smuggled in anything that is fruit, veges, plants or plant materials.

Why a beagle for a sniffer dog you ask. It is because beagles have an excellent sense of smell. So this week we had to make a machine to replace of help Isaak and other sniffer dogs. I made something that is an x-ray.

Kowhai flower ink print

In IL (Integrated Learning) we had to make an ink print of a flower. The flower of the country we live in. I made a kowhai.

The kowhai is a New Zealand flower. It is yellow. The funny part is that kowhai means yellow. A kowhai tree can grow up to 25 m high.
